Congratulations to Lucy O and Stella H

National Cheerleading Championships🏅

On the weekend of the 22nd and 24th of November, two of our talented Year 5 students, Lucy O and Stella H, competed at the National Cheerleading Championships in Melbourne. The girls represented their club, South Coast Elite, with outstanding spirit, determination and teamwork, delivering an exceptional performance on the competition floor.

Lucy’s results were:

• Blackout (Level 1, Junior Novice, XS) – National Champion (1st Place) and Hit Zero

• Youth Ops (Level 1, Youth, XS) – National Champion (1st Place) and Grand Champions

Stella’s results were:

• Youth Ops (Level 1, Youth, XS) – National Champion (1st Place) and Grand Champions

• Lady Jane’s (Level 2, Junior, XS) – National Champion (1st Place), Grand Champions and Hit Zero

To be crowned Grand Champions means the team achieved the highest score of their level for the entire competition within the XS gym category. A “Hit Zero” performance means the routine was executed flawlessly — no mistakes, no deductions and absolute precision.

It has been an incredibly successful year for both girls, who remained undefeated in all Adelaide competitions across both of their teams. Their outstanding achievements at Nationals in Melbourne have been the perfect way to finish an amazing season.

We all congratulate the girls on this incredible achievement!🏅

Lucy and Stella’s reflection:

Hello we are Stella and Lucy and we went to Melbourne for Cheerleading and we won for both of our teams. We also got Grand Champion which means we are the best in the country and New Zealand! In Melbourne we had lots of training at good clubs. We have been practising for the whole year with our team and we have worked together and it paid off. We went to an Escape Room with lots of our friends and were in groups and we had to go through doors and work together with our group to get points and whoever had the most points at the end won! We had a club dinner at an Italian restaurant and we ordered pasta.

On the days we weren’t competing, we had to go watch the other teams and support our club. We went to nice restaurants for dinner and Starbucks. We also went to the pool with our friends who were in the same Hotel as us and we got to meet people from other clubs. We went to the part to train on the grass and we also had a club meditation. Overall, Melbourne was very fun and we had a great time!
