General Information
School Timetable
At Rose Park Primary School the school day begins at 8:50am and finishes at 3:10pm.
Students may be dropped off at school when teachers begin yard duty, from 8.30 to 8.50am. Classrooms are opened by 8.50am and students should be in classrooms when the 2 minute music bell finishes. Attendance rolls will be completed by 9.00am and students arriving after this time will be marked as late.
Recess break is from 10.40 – 11.10am. Lunch eating time is 12.50 – 1.00pm, and lunch play from 1.00 – 1.30pm.
Classes conclude at 3.10pm, and students must be collected before 3.30pm, or enrolled in Out of School Hours Care.
School Crossing and Drop Off Zones
The koala crossing on Grant Avenue has a staff member on duty, with student crossing monitors, each day before and after school. The emu crossing on Alexandra Avenue is marked by red and white posts with ‘Children Crossing’ flags.
Year 5 and 6 Primary students join the roster for traffic monitor duty on Grant Avenue crossing, and are usually rostered for one week per semester, for either the morning or afternoon duty. Students and staff attend training sessions with SAPOL officers annually.
There are clearly marked zones on both Alexandra and Grant Avenues that can be used for dropping off children. Please be advised that the zones on Grant Avenue and Alexandra Avenue are only for drop offs or pick-ups when the parent stays in the car. If you park and leave the car at all you may receive a parking fine.
Grant Avenue can become particularly congested due to high traffic flow. Please do not illegally park in this area as it can create a real danger to students by blocking the view.
School Calendar & Term Dates
We have a number of student free days each year, which are utilised for whole staff training and development. Our OSHC service is available on student free days. There is one school closure day per year, for an event of local significance, usually the Royal Adelaide Show. OSHC service may be available based on expected attendance on school closure days. These dates are communicated through email, the school newsletter, and the website calendar.
Acquaintance Night is held in the second week of first term each year for classroom teachers and specialist teachers to connect with parents and to share teaching and learning expectations, term overviews, class newsletters, timetables and programs.
Parent teacher interviews are also held in Term 1. Reception to Year 6 Student Learning Journeys will be held in Term 3. Year 6 IBPYP Exhibition is shared with families in Term 4. For more information regarding assessment, please refer to the Assessment and Reporting Policy on our school website.
The website calendar will display activities such as excursions, assemblies, and whole school events.
Communication
Teachers and administration staff use email to send information to families. You will receive emails to broadcast general school information and updates, as well as parent slips to respond with consent for excursions, incursions, camps and school events, or to give more general consent for students such as photography permissions, consent to go on local walks, etc. Family contact details are stored on our school information system; if you update any details, please advise the school to ensure you continue to receive emails.
Classroom teachers will use Toddle to share student learning and to communicate with parents and carers. Please check with your child’s teacher if you do not receive information to register.
Staff are available to meet with parents to discuss any part of the school program or any queries. Parents are encouraged to ring the school or approach the class teacher to make an appointment*. Email is a preferred means of communication, and it is best to contact teachers promptly if you have any questions or concerns. Interviews are held formally at end of Term 1, and a Learning Journey classroom visit takes place in Term 3. School Communication Guidelines can be found on our school website.
*Please note that Staff Meetings are held every Tuesday after school; this is not usually an appropriate time to meet. We recommend that teachers are contacted on weekdays between 8.00am and 5.00pm and not on weekends or during holiday breaks.

Student and Family Information
Parents are asked to notify the school of any serious health condition or care needs their child may have, which may impact on student attendance and participation. For medication to be stored/administered onsite, a health care plan and medication agreement will need to be completed with assistance from the treating medical professional.
For families who currently have a court order relating to child custody, it is imperative that the school receives a copy of your court order to ensure that we know who the legal custodians are, and who has permission to collect or visit your child.
