After School Sports Committee

The purpose of the subcommittee is to facilitate a wide range of after-school sports opportunities, ensuring inclusive, equitable access for all students. By coordinating and promoting after-school sports programs, the subcommittee supports the Department’s goals of enhancing student wellbeing, engagement, and physical development.
The role of the committee includes:
- Ensuring that all students have the opportunity to participate in after-school sports programs that align with Department priorities for student wellbeing, resilience, and physical health.
- Communicating regularly with the Rose Park Primary School Governing Council to ensure after-school sports initiatives align with school-wide goals and receive appropriate support.
- Managing the coordination of players, coaches, and managers, and maintaining clear communication with parents/carers.
- Developing and updating policies related to after-school sports, ensuring they reflect the Department’s commitment to student safety, inclusivity, and accessibility.
- Approving the purchase of sports equipment and other resources, ensuring they meet the quality standards and needs of each sport while considering sustainability and budgetary constraints.
- Investigating grants, funding sources, and training opportunities to enhance the quality and reach of after-school sports.
- Endorsing sports fees for each sport, which are then approved by the Governing Council, to ensure transparent and fair pricing.
- Considering proposals for new sports teams and programs, assessing their potential benefits, and alignment with the school’s and Department’s objectives.
